Euchre Keeps Brain Healthy

The weekly Euchre players: Rear/L to R---My Mom, Maxine (Uncle Homer's wife),
Front/L to R---Great Aunt Violet, Uncle Homer

Uncle Homer is my mom's brother. Aunt Vi is their mother' sister. (Get it?) Maxine is Uncle Homer's first wife, Helen's sister. Helen died many years ago. (Get it?) Maxine passed way, then Uncle Homer. Aunt Vi going strong at 101 (her birthday is also Abe Lincoln's and my oldest niece, Mom is 80.
These characters played the card game, Euchre (pronounced You-Ker), every weekend for years. Uncle Homer drove in the dark, in snow, in storms, toted Maxine's wheelchair when that was needed. Aunt Vi played when she could barely hear or see.
Growing up I played Euchre weekly, 20 card Euchre, 2 or 3 partners, 1-4 card tables full of family. Once we played 24hrs, took turns off to sleep. When I moved to Seattle no one had heard of Euchre (I even advertised in the local paper and put up posters, looking for players.)
I firmly believe it keeps your mind alert and young. It is fast paced and ever changing. Luckily, the Internet was born and I can now play online. Most players from Midwest and I took the avatar of old black man---was called the N word, booted out, treated so bad. I changed to white 30yr old w/red baseball cap. BUT, found UK Euchre, lots NICE Canadians. Never played with a nasty Canadian.
EUCHRE, the secret to a long, dementia-free life. (My mom didn't play much when she was younger. She only played if forced.)
