USA Paralyzed Vets Made In China Fund Raising

Thanks to the MS-financial sink hole, I have no extra spending money. Well, ok, I do still buy the weekly mocha, but often they give it to me free, I think it is a pity-mocha, anyway, thanks to the MS-sink hole I am no longer able to make the financial donations I once did. In these harsh economic times, many are in same spot.

My charity of choice, dwindling each year, was our local Gospel Mission. My partner's was American Paralyzed Veteran's. Lots of choices, somehow we chose those as the dwindle began. We are down to a few bucks a year to the Vets. Sigh.

Yesterday the Vets mailed us a package. Inside was much more than the usual envelope return stickers and nickle (which we always return, strange that campaign...), there was an 8x10 booklet with paper and calculator, plus a smaller book with a calendar. Maybe I was meant to feel (since I did) that those were worth more than the few bucks I'd been sending, so I would send more. Yeah, that's not going to work. In fact, it pretty much will stop the donations because I find it to be manipulative.

This morning I was looking at the calendar book (my name engraved in faux gold below the gold USA flag). It is full of moving stories about America, patriotism and the like. Yes, I enjoy such stories, then I turned it over: "Made In China," in faux silver.

I am speechless.
